Exercise

There are lots of services available to help you keep well during the colder months.

As well as getting vaccinated there are steps you can take to reduce the risk of catching and spreading winter illnesses:

Cycling is a great way to keep active, as well as a sustainable and environmentally friendly way to travel.

Walking is simple, free and one of the easiest ways to get more active, lose weight and become healthier. A brisk 10-minute daily walk can help you build stamina, burn excess calories and make your heart healthier.

Health & Wellbeing Coaches work in GP practices and are part of the NHS. They are here to give you extra support to achieve your health goals, such as stopping smoking, losing weight or being more active.

Social Prescribing Link Workers (sometimes called SPLWs or Social Prescribers) work in GP practices and are part of the NHS.

SPLWs are here to help you to connect with community activities, groups and services to support the practice, social and emotional needs that affect your health and wellbeing, such as housing and money.

The SPLW will work with you over a fixed number of appointments to help you to achieve your health and wellbeing goals.
