Cycle Sisters, an award-winning charity, is holding their 4th annual winter cycling challenge for women from 1- 29 February.
The ‘Smiles and Miles Challenge’ aims to support and inspire cycling.
You can sign up and choose your personal miles target, record your rides, and enjoy the freedom of being out on your bike.
Core Conversations Training
This training is based on 7 principles for great Core Conversations. These were co-created with nearly two hundred front-line experts from the public and voluntary sector during the pandemic. The training uses these principles to enhance people’s existing ability to quickly build a relationship with the person they’re aiming to help, form a holistic understanding of the challenge at hand and to co-create solutions to overcome them.
Introduction to Extremism and Radicalisation - The Newham Context
Although extremism is understandably not on most people's minds when performing volunteer or community work in their local area, it is important to recognize how extremist groups can impact individuals and their communities. This course will provide the historical and current threat from extremism within Newham and East London, whilst giving you the tools to be able to recognise and report extremist symbols, messaging and misinformation.
This training will cover:
- What do we mean by extremism and radicalisation?
- How has this affected Newham in the past and present?
- How do extremist groups operate?
- How you can encourage resilience to extremist ideologies
- Prevent and referral pathways if you are worried about someone
