Community

Community health champions are volunteers who live in Newham and want to make a positive difference to the health and wellbeing of Newham residents.

Becoming a Community Health Champion offers the chance to positively impact your community, grow personally, gain knowledge, feel empowered, and receive recognition for your contributions.

COVID-19 is a viral infection that can cause cold like symptoms.

COVID-19 vaccination is the best way to protect yourself from becoming seriously unwell or dying from COVID-19.

Most people feel better within a few days or weeks of their first COVID-19 symptoms and make a full recovery within 12 weeks. However, for some people, it can be a more serious illness and their symptoms can last longer.

Newham has a thriving LGBTQIA+ community.

From pubs and cafés, bookshops and museums, to voluntary sector organisations supporting LGBTQIA+ wellbeing, there are many places you can visit and groups you can join.

We are working constantly with our partners across the borough to keep our young people safe.

By working together we can make a difference and we will respond quickly and decisively to ensure our communities feel safe and are safe.

If you are worried about a young person being at risk of violence or if you are a young person worried about your safety, we are here to help.

The following pages are a list of partners and contacts that we work with across the borough every day to keep you and our communities safe.
