Community Health and Wellbeing Champions

Community health champions are volunteers who live in Newham and want to make a positive difference to the health and wellbeing of Newham residents.

Becoming a Community Health Champion offers the chance to positively impact your community, grow personally, gain knowledge, feel empowered, and receive recognition for your contributions.

Community Health and Wellbeing Champions

The Community Health and Wellbeing Champions network builds on our COVID-19 Health Champions network. It empowers Newham residents to remain up to date on information about all aspects of health and health care in Newham. It is also a chance for residents to ask questions, share feedback and help shape services.

The Community Health and Wellbeing Champions can be anyone in the Newham Community. You might be the person that everyone knows and trusts. You might be someone who wants to help in whatever way you can - even if this is your first time. You can decide if you want to focus on a particular health issue (like cost of living or food poverty) or help with all health in general – it’s up to you.

Community Energy Champions

Energy Champions

The Renewal Programme has partnered with Newham council, the Cadent Foundation, Groundwork London's Green Doctors and Skills Enterprise to deliver a community led Energy Champion programme. Our Energy Champions attend community events, schools, and foodbanks to offer energy advice and support to those struggling with their energy bills. The Champions can then make referrals to the Green Doctors for Newham residents who need more in-depth practical support to manage their bills. The Renewal Programme also runs regular Warm Banks at our Hub in Manor Park. To find out more, get advice, or invite the Energy Champions to an event, please contact the Renewal Programme.
